Privacy

Short version: the calculators run in your browser, the figures you type are never sent to this site or to its analytics, two analytics scripts count page views, and the site shows ads served by Google AdSense. All three are named below.

The calculators

Every calculator on this site runs as plain JavaScript in your browser. The dimensions, spans and quantities you enter are never transmitted, never stored on a server, and never logged. Nothing is saved to your device either: no cookie, no local storage. Close the tab and they are gone.

One exception you control: your entries are written into the address bar, so a result can be bookmarked or sent to someone. That happens in your browser and reaches no server of ours unless you choose to share the link. If you do share one, remember it carries the figures you typed. Scripts that run on the page, including Google's ad code described below, can read the page address, so they can see those entries too.

Accounts and forms

There are none. No sign-up, no newsletter, no quote form, no "enter your email to see the result". Nothing on this site asks who you are.

Analytics

Two analytics scripts run on these pages and it is worth naming both, because a privacy page that says “some analytics” is not telling you anything.

Google Analytics 4. It records that a page was viewed, roughly where from, and broad device type. It sets cookies, named _ga and _ga_ followed by a property code, which is how it recognises a returning browser. They are first-party cookies and they hold a random identifier, not anything you typed.

Cloudflare Web Analytics. Added by the host. It counts page views and sets no cookies.

What analytics does not receive is the figures you enter. The calculators write your entries into the address bar so a result can be bookmarked, and by default Google Analytics reports the whole address including that part. It is configured here not to: it is told to report only the page path, so the dimensions and spans you type are stripped before anything is sent. That is a deliberate setting, and it is the reason the sentence at the top of this page is accurate rather than nearly accurate.

If you would rather not be counted at all, browser tracking protection, an ad blocker, or Google's own opt-out add-on all stop it, and nothing on this site breaks if you do.

Advertising

This site shows ads served by Google AdSense. Google and its partners, as third-party vendors, use cookies to serve ads based on your previous visits to this site and to other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies lets it and its partners show you ads based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the internet.

You can opt out of personalized advertising in Google's Ads Settings. You can also opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalized advertising at www.aboutads.info/choices. Google explains how it uses information from sites that show its ads at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, you are asked for consent before advertising cookies are used, and you can change your choice at any time. If you decline, you may still see ads, but they are not personalized.

Cookies

The site itself sets none. Nothing here uses a cookie to remember you, hold a preference or personalise a page.

Google Analytics sets two, as described above. Google and its advertising partners set advertising cookies to serve ads, as described under Advertising. That is the whole list. An earlier version of this page said no cookies were set at all, which was wrong while Google Analytics was running, and it has been corrected.

Third-party content

Apart from the ads, pages are static HTML with no embedded fonts, images, videos, comment systems, maps or social widgets from other domains. The two analytics scripts and the Google AdSense ad code named above are the only third-party code that loads, and Google, its advertising partners and Cloudflare are the only third parties that see your visit.

Outbound links to codes, standards and manufacturers carry rel="nofollow noopener" and open in a new tab. Following one takes you to somebody else's site under their policy, not this one.

Changes

Material changes will be noted here with a date. 12 October 2026: the Advertising section was rewritten because the site now shows ads served by Google AdSense, and the cookie and third-party sections were updated to match. Questions go to info@nailsandnumbers.com.
